Fab Lab

Fab labs are a global network of local labs, enabling invention by providing access to tools for digital fabrication. Fab labs share an evolving inventory of core capabilities to make (almost) anything, allowing people and projects to be shared. Fab lab network provides operational, educational, technical, financial, and logistical assistance beyond what’s available within one lab.

Fab labs are available as a community resource, offering open access for individuals as well as scheduled access for programs. Designs and processes developed in fab labs can be protected and sold however an inventor chooses but should remain available for individuals to use and learn from. Commercial activities can be prototyped and incubated in a fab lab, but they must not conflict with other uses, they should grow beyond rather than within the lab, and they are expected to benefit the inventors, labs, and networks that contribute to their success.

ASIET and Aero Developers jointly coordinates anti-COVID-19 activities through ASIET Care, an ‘Emergency Platform with a difference.’ The initiative began by coordinating the services of volunteers in supporting people who are on ome-quarantine. The initiative is designed by Prof. Anuroop K.B., while the sustenance and initiating drive of the project come from Adi Shankara Trust, Aero Developers provides the web support.

In its 1st phase ,ASIET Care began in Vadakkekara Gramapanchayat with a brief inaugural function attended by Dr. SureshKumar and members of Gramapanchayat. The initiative  helps the Gramapanchayat to issue via online the permits and passes for mobility(with date and time validity digitally inscribed) to volunteers. In its next phase, the panchayat will be able to issue similar passes to the public on a need-based stipulation so as to avoid unnecessary crowding and polarisation of the masses in public spaces.
